Retzer Nature Center Couples Session | Waukesha, WI Photographer

October 16, 2026

Retzer Nature Center has quickly become one of my favorite spots for couples sessions around Waukesha. You get the pine trees, open fields, trails, and so many different little pockets to stop at without having to drive around to multiple locations. We spent the evening walking around, chasing the last little bit of light, and basically just letting these two be themselves. Which is exactly how I want couples sessions to feel. I never want you to show up feeling like you need to know how to pose or be “good” at taking photos. Most of my couples tell me beforehand that they’re awkward in front of the camera, and I promise you, that does not matter. I’ll give you things to do and little prompts along the way, but a lot of the time I’m just watching for the moments that happen in between. The way you naturally reach for each other. The laughing when something feels ridiculous. Running through a field, messing with each other, cuddling up when the sun starts going down—all of those little things that actually feel like you. And Retzer is SO good for that kind of session. We can start back in the trees for a moodier, more intimate feel and then head out toward the open fields as the sun gets lower. It gives you so much variety in your gallery while still letting the session feel laid-back and unhurried. If you’re looking for a couples photo location near Waukesha and want something that feels woodsy, earthy, and a little romantic, Retzer Nature Center is definitely one of my favorites. And if you’ve been putting off couples photos because you think you’re going to be awkward—this is your sign to just do them. You don’t need to know what you’re doing. Come hang out with me for the evening, love on your person, and I’ll take care of the rest. 🤍
