Waukesha Family Photographer | What a Session Really Looks Like
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering what a family session actually feels like… this is for you.
Because I know it can feel like a lot. What to wear, how your kids will act, if everything will come together the way you’re hoping. And the truth is, it doesn’t need to feel stressful to be beautiful.
My goal is to make this whole experience feel easy, natural, and honestly… something you enjoy with your people.

Before Your Session
Once you’re officially booked, I’ll send over a welcome guide with everything you need to feel prepared going into your session.
Inside, you’ll find details on what to expect, how to prep your family, location ideas, and styling guidance so nothing feels last minute.
When it comes to outfits, I take a very hands-on approach. I help style moms first, because everything flows from there. Once we choose something you feel confident and comfortable in, I build the rest of the family’s looks around you.
I also have options available for littles, which makes things easier if you don’t want to go out and buy something new or try to piece everything together on your own.
The goal is to take that mental load off your plate so you can simply show up and be present.
What Happens During Your Session
This is the part most people worry about and the part that ends up surprising them the most.
Your session is not about standing still and smiling at the camera.
It’s about movement, connection, and letting your kids be exactly who they are in this season.
I come in with a mix of prompts and games for the littles who want to run, explore, and play, because that’s where the magic usually happens.
And in between all of that, I guide you into more snuggly, connected moments for when your babies just want to be close to you.
Nothing is forced. Nothing is overly posed.
Just a natural flow that allows real moments to unfold.
Timing + Light
Most of my sessions start about 60 minutes before sunset. This is when the light starts to soften and gives that warm, golden glow you see in my work.
We shoot all the way through sunset, which gives us a range of lighting. Softer light at the beginning, golden tones as the sun drops, and those slower, more intimate moments as the day fades.
It allows your gallery to feel full, storytelling, and true to the entire experience.

The In-Between Moments Matter Most
The moments you think might feel chaotic.
The in-between laughter.
Your toddler running back to you.
The way your kids reach for your hand without thinking.
Those are the moments I’m watching for.
That’s what your session is really about.

Thinking About Booking?
If you’ve been thinking about documenting your family as you are right now, this is your reminder.
It doesn’t have to be perfect.
Your kids don’t have to sit still.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You just have to show up.
