Just home. Bare feet. The quiet hum of the coffee maker. Soft Wisconsin light spilling through kitchen windows.
This in-home couples session took place in Oconomowoc, tucked into one of those calm neighborhoods where mornings feel slower. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like being invited into a Saturday.
They made coffee the way they always do — one reaching for the mugs while the other leaned against the counter pretending not to steal sips. The kind of rhythm you only notice when you’ve built a life together.
No stiff poses.
No forced laughter.
Just movement. Familiarity. Ease.
Why I Love In-Home Sessions
As a couples photographer serving Oconomowoc and the surrounding Waukesha County area, I adore golden fields and downtown sessions but there’s something different about documenting people inside their own walls.
Your home carries your real story.
It’s where:

When we photograph you there, it doesn’t feel like a performance. It feels honest.
For this session, we kept it simple:
- Brewing coffee
- Sitting on the kitchen floor with sunlight pouring in
- Music low in the background
- A slow dance in the living room
The light was soft and gentle the kind Southeastern Wisconsin mornings do so well.
The Beauty of Doing “Nothing”
One of my favorite prompts that morning was simply:
“Just do what you’d normally do…but slower.”
And that’s when it shifted.
Foreheads resting together.
Laughing because they bumped hips at the counter.
A kiss that wasn’t for the camera, I just happened to be there.
That’s the magic of an at-home couples session in Oconomowoc.
